Base oils
and lubricants
Lubricants play an indispensable role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of a diverse range of machinery and equipment across numerous industries. These lubricants typically consist of a blend of base oils and additives, with base oils forming around 90% of the composition. This combination allows lubricants to provide essential properties that reduce friction, dissipate heat, protect against wear and corrosion, and extend the lifespan of mechanical components.
The American Petroleum Institute (API) has established a comprehensive classification system that categorizes base oils into five distinct groups, each with specific characteristics and applications.
SUPPLIERS OF BASE OILS
Group I Base Oils:
Group I base oils are derived from solvent-refined and dewaxed mineral bases. These oils find application in a wide array of contexts, including industrial settings, grease production, gear mechanisms, and marine lubrication. Arvala stands as a reliable provider of Group I base oils, offering a diverse selection of grades such as SN 150, SN 250, SN 350, SN 500, Bright stocks, and more. These options are accessible through various distribution methods, including flexitanks, isotanks, intermediate bulk containers (IBCs), steel drums, trucks, and marine tankers.
Group III Base Oils:
Group III base oils are produced through hydrocracking processes and serve as essential components in high-quality engine oils, transmission fluids, and industrial lubricants. Evicor AG takes part in supplying Group III base oils, presenting variants like 2cst, 4cst, 6cst, and 8cst. These options are distributed through a range of container types, encompassing flexitanks, isotanks, IBCs, steel drums, trucks, and marine tankers.
Group II Base Oils:
Group II base oils are hydrotreated mineral bases, commonly utilized in modern engine oils and transmission fluids. Arvala contributes to the market of Group II base oils, offering a comprehensive range that includes 70N, 100N, 220N, 350N, 500N, 600N, and additional grades. These options are available in various container formats, ensuring accessibility through flexitanks, isotanks, IBCs, steel drums, trucks, and marine tankers
Group IV Base Oils:
Group IV base oils are represented by polyalphaolefins (PAO), which are entirely synthetic base oils designed to perform under demanding conditions, whether extreme cold or heat, in automotive or industrial lubricants.
Group V Base Oils:
Group V base oils encompass an extensive array of base oil types not covered by the previous categories. This group includes naphthenic base oils, synthetic esters, polyalkylene glycols (PAG), and others. Naphthenic base oils, particularly prevalent in transformer oils and metalworking fluids, are commonly used as supplements to enhance the properties of other base oils.
Arvala expertise extends beyond traditional base oils. The company is equipped to offer re-refined base oils, contributing to sustainability efforts in the lubricant industry. Additionally, they provide lubricant additives to further enhance the performance and protective qualities of lubricants.
